This Sign Can Only Mean One Thing

It's STATE FAIR TIME PEOPLE! That's Right! And in the McNeal Family Household we've got a couple of rules. All food eaten at the Fair should either be ON A STICK or DEEP FRIED. If you can get something BOTH deep fried AND on a stick, well that is just a bonus. I think you'll agree that we did very well. We started out our adventure with some Pork Butt on a Stick and some Deep Fried Oreos. You can see that they had a really snappy sign. We sort of thought that they were a bit lame, honestly. Here Scott shows you one! Not really worth ALL of the fat and the cookie was just sort of soft and not melty or good.

We had to go and see the animals.......of course. We got to see a calf born, here is mama cow seconds away from having her young pulled out by a cowboy. And what sort of SICK ASS irony is it that TYSON sponsors the baby chick hatching? Dude, can we just eat them NOW?

Okay well regardless. We had a great time seeing animals, and eating deep fried candy bars and deep fried twinkies, and popcorn and corn dogs and philly cheese steak and cotton candy......and of course. Riding Rides...
Here you see Lou and I having a great time on the carousel. It was about 45 degrees.....ridiculously cold in Tampa Florida I tell you. Swirling around on the carousel we were teeth chattering and freezing! And no trip to the fair is complete without the requiste 6 foot Purple Snake for a Prize....now is it? It was indeed a fun family day. They didn't seem to have the traditional "Worlds Largest Hog" that you'll find up in the Midwest....but hey, it was a pretty good time even without that.

Can I get up on some of that Pork Butt on a stick?

Pork Butt on a stick was awesome and so is the fried Milky Way. The oreos really sucked though.

Fried Milky Ways? Wow. It's been a LONG time since I've been to the fair. I remember elephant ears and cotton candy.

Glad you all had fun.

Oh, and Fried Pork Butt? Sounds like a good name for a band.

I'm glad that you had fun. How's about sending me a fried Milky way, or at least getting the secret to NOT melting them....lol

SHE'S BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!

fuck 'em if they can't take a joke.

I am planning on attending the fair on Sunday, because they will be having a ballroom dancing exhibition all day. Accompanying me will be two sets of (g/g) twins and a set of (g/g/b) triplets (and their moms)- the only boy in the group used to enthusiastically join in on dress up days by wearing his sister's Minnie Mouse costume, so he should be right on board, we hope.

This could be hell on earth.

So bring on the fried rocks, fried newt, fried frying oil!

My sister and I ate our way through the fair last year:

Chocolate Covered Strawberry (start small to warn stomach)
Fried Green Tomatoes
(It's a Southern thing)
Pork Butt on a Stick
(It's all in the name, NO ONE can resist this uber-delicacy)
Fried Snickers (underdone, a disappointment)
Funnel Cake

Then we stole feathers from the chicken cages, which is a death defying experience, as anyone who's been pecked can tell you.

And topped it all off with a ride on this fun superman-type flying ride where you are flat on your stomach with arms extended, flying around in a circle. Not scary, but nice. Hope you got a chance to ride it.

And the mini-coasters are pretty cool, too.

Now, I'm going away again.

Ta Ta, and glad to find a kindred (greasy) spirit!
